Vinted Shoppers Voice Displeasure Over Sizing Changes

Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.

Digital Channels Backlash

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.

The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.

It has advised users to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated.

Sizing System Changes

Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

User Stories

A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.

Platform Context

The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
