New Jersey's top prosecutor leaves her post after judicial rules against her.

The former personal attorney for Donald Trump has resigned as the US Attorney for New Jersey. This comes after a legal ruling that challenged her right to hold the office.

Official Departure

The head of the Justice Department, Pam Bondi, accepted the prosecutor's departure on the start of the week. She commented that the judicial decision made it "untenable" for her to perform her duties.

"Do not interpret adherence to the ruling as defeat," she wrote. "My fight will now stretch across the country."

Court Ruling

The departure comes a week after a federal appellate panel found that she had been serving in violation of the law as the top prosecutor. This ruling is could influence scores of prosecutions in the Garden State.

The court ruled that a temporary posting that skirted Senate approval violated the Federal Vacancies Reform Act.

Future Role and Reaction

It was also stated that she will remain at the Department of Justice as a senior adviser. She will seek further review of the court's action, in the hope of achieving a reversal.

On a social media platform, the Attorney General contended that the court "must not countermand the appointment of attorneys responsible for performing the fundamental role of the presidency of criminal prosecution."

Performance in Office

She highlighted the prosecutor's work and said that under her leadership, the state capital of Newark saw a 20% reduction in offenses. She also stated that the Camden had its first summer in half a century without a homicide.

Legal Career

Habba, first joined Trump's personal legal team in recent years. She later represented her client in his hush-money trial in the previous year, which resulted in his guilty verdict on dozens of charges of document fraud.

Before her appointment to the federal prosecutor position, Trump had stated he was naming her as his senior adviser if re-elected, labeling Habba as deeply loyal and a "tireless advocate for justice".
