Everyone's favorite pizza-eating heroes are arriving to Magic: The Gathering. The well-known TCG's publisher, Wizards of the Coast, announced a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration at a exclusive panel held at NYCC. Is this a radical addition or yet another Universes Beyond marketing move? We'll let you decide.
Take a look below at all the details revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, including key context. Everything mentioned below launches on March 6th, 2026, with one exception — the Pizza Bundle arrives a few weeks later on March 27th.
Before diving into the many special decks and collections available, we’ll examine at all the cards from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion unveiled by the developers. Standard booster packs for the expansion are priced at $6.99 per pack, while premium boosters are priced at $37.99 per pack.
Let’s explore a few shell-shocking features. To begin, there's a new mechanic called Sneak, which is a riff on the already established Ninjutsu, where gamers can cheat powerful creatures into the battlefield when an attacking creature isn’t blocked. The key change here is that this new ability can apply to spells that aren’t creatures as well. The designers also took the opportunity to refine the mechanic a little (It is treated as playing a spell, as opposed to Ninjutsu). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but it's more likely we'll see the new mechanic in upcoming expansions from now on.
Should we were to return to the Kamigawa plane, we might use Ninjutsu since that's where it was developed and it’s a hallmark to that,” a senior game designer explained. “But in other settings, since the rules are cleaner and Sneak is what's going to be Standard-legal, it’s probable we’ll use Sneak.”
That second variant of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai, is one of four cards with unique artwork designed exclusively for the expansion by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator the co-creator.
Additionally, should you be surprised by the rules text on Turtles Forever, which allows playing cards outside of your main deck, many players were. But as per Wizards, that's now a official card in all formats of Magic.
In any case, here are the highly unusual full-art lands from this set:
Following the company’s existing guidelines, these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard format. Developers say they were careful to ensure the new cards and gameplay elements meshed well with other Standard sets such as Edge of Eternities.
“I headed the design for 15 months and we were aware it was going to be in standard and what other sets were going to be alongside it in Standard,” the designer commented. “Our goal was to ensure that there's synergy with some of those sets including Edge of Eternities.”
For example, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities include a Izzet strategy focused on artifacts.
“They mesh together to offer the pieces for a enjoyable Standard deck,” the designer says.
Following a decision to create any Commander precons for the Spider-Man set and the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, Wizards is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just one precon, but it does come with six distinct legendary creatures who could work as your commander based on how you combine them (five of the cards have a special partner ability called “Character Select” that allows starting with two commanders in the command zone rather than only one). Check them out for yourself:
The Turtle Power deck is set at $69.99, although the price may rise due to popularity. Sources indicated that it includes 43 brand-new cards in total, which translates to an additional 37 Turtle-themed game cards in addition to the six legendary commanders pictured earlier. (Calculating roughly, this suggests approximately 20 reprinted cards if we assume the deck includes 37 lands.)
What will the TMNT version of Sol Ring appear? Fans must wait and find out.
As per usual, the company is selling a bundle. It is priced at $69.99 and includes the following:
Here’s a special idea for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, mostly in that it comes in what looks like a pizza delivery box. Every Pizza Bundle is priced at $99.99 and comes with the following:
For those curious what a “Pizza Bundle promo card” means, it’s basically a reprinted older card with all-new TMNT art. The team showed one for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual depicting master Splinter adding black licorice pieces on a pizza slice. In total, there are six distinct Pizza Bundle promo cards in total.
The Pizza Bundle releases a few weeks after the core set on March 27, 2026.
This special bundle is made for a four-person draft and costs $119.99. That will get you:
Lastly, Wizards are introducing a new concept with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its continued initiative to create Magic products specifically for beginners. Here, the cooperative set is a special set of prebuilt decks that allow two players team up to face a “Boss” enemy deck that plays automatically.
The concept here that every Boss card gives unique powers to the creatures included in the boss deck. The Boss automatically plays an additional card each turn, and players begin battling {one Boss|
