Danish individual receives deferred sentence for sharing nude film clips on the social platform Reddit

A Denmark-based man has been convicted of sharing sexually explicit segments from copyrighted films and television shows on the online site Reddit.

According to a law enforcement report reviewed by media outlets, the unnamed individual posted 347 video excerpts of explicit scenes in a subreddit he moderated, which were then watched 4.2 million-plus times.

The country's police state he has been handed a 7-month suspended jail term for copyright infringement.

Legal analysts say the defendant was charged under a rarely-used provision in Danish intellectual property legislation, with the court finding that by taking the footage out of their original context, the man had harmed the artists' "ethical entitlements".

He has additionally been found guilty of sharing more than 25 terabytes of protected digital content.

From March 2022 to mid-2023, the user using the alias "the pseudonym KlammereFyr" on Reddit posted adult scenes including over 100 actresses.

He distributed them in the forum he was a administrator of.

According to the Denmark's anti-piracy group the Rights Alliance, his subreddit had more than 6,000 members and participants were prompted to ask for excerpts of particular actors.

In last year, campaigners reported the case to the police on behalf of the impacted artists, filmmakers and producers, which led to the forum being closed down.
